Last November 20, during the Advanced Manufacturing fair were given to the best in the Spanish industry. Industrias Alegre received the award in the category "Most disruptive technology in the production process" for the innovations applied in the manufacturing process of a battery module.

A project for the car of the future

The award-winning project was designed to manufacture a battery container module for electric vehicles for the exclusive brand Lucid Motors.

Manufacturing consists of injection molding with over-injection of aluminum metal inserts. This circumstance required us to consider manufacturing on a vertical machine with a high tonnage(1700T). This work is combined with ultrasonic welding and exhaustive quality control with vision cameras.

As our colleague Miguel Alagarda, who led the project, points out, "the challenge was, in addition to manufacturing the part, to offer sufficient production capacity to meet the customer's needs and continuously achieve maximum quality". Because only by guaranteeing zero defects in manufacturing can the automobile brand ensure the reliability of its batteries.

An industry award

This recognition has special relevance for us because it is an award that comes from the industry itself. In the words of the company's CEO, Enrique Careaga: "This award celebrates innovative production, but also the fact that our technical team has designed an extraordinarily robust process to offer maximum guarantees to the customer".

Our colleague Mónica Alegre, commercial director, also points out the importance of the technical team: "Designing and industrializing this part has been madness. But a wonderful madness made reality because our technical team, in addition to being very good, is always overflowing with enthusiasm".

A special impetus to move forward

The news of the award comes in a very special context for us after the significant damage suffered at our facilities during the recent floods.

In fact, it has been necessary to delay the delivery of the order for which this manufacturing process was intended, although it will be resumed as soon as possible. Referring to the catastrophe, Mónica Alegre comments that "it was a very hard blow. But our expertise, our capacity for innovation and the enthusiasm of the whole team are still intact. And the ongoing recovery work is proceeding apace. In fact, our CEO comments: "We are making rapid progress in these tasks and this award gives us an extra boost.
